*Twelve new gardens discovered for the 2012 Hunter's Garden Marlborough event, confirming
Marlborough's reputation as one of New Zealand's most exciting botanical regions.

* Four new garden tours and a series of workshops from New Zealand's leading experts bring a contemporary feel to this celebrated Marlborough event.

Event organisers have pulled out all the stops for this year's Hunter's Garden Marlborough, unearthing several new gardens and organising four new garden tours, including the Country Splendour and the Modern Garden Tours, just a couple of the highlights at this year's event.

"It is important to the organising committee that we continue to search the length and breadth of Marlborough to identify and showcase the best gardens we have here" says President Frank Metcalfe. "With an event like Hunter's Garden Marlborough, now in its nineteenth consecutive year, we are very conscious of the need to keep the event refreshed and renewed by the addition of new gardens and tours and by bringing in the best specialist presenters. We are very aware of the range of garden events around the country and want to keep Hunter's Garden Marlborough as the best. "

And the importance of this major event in the Marlborough calendar cannot be ignored. With over 1,200 tickets sold in 2011 and over half of visitors staying in the region three or more days, the economic impact is significant.

"We are fortunate and proud that Hunter's Garden Marlborough has built a great reputation within the gardening community. Our visitor survey last year showed that over 98% of attendees would recommend the event to friends and family – you can't get a better endorsement than that! Our challenge now is to grow our audience and attract more people to the event, and we hope this year's programme will do just that."
