Lochmara Lodge Wildlife Recovery and Arts Centre
Single Day Tours / Queen Charlotte Sound
Discover a magical corner of the Sounds. Come play or stay at Lochmara. Join us for a few hours or full day on one of our award winning day trips or book in to our accommodation for a complete escape. Either way, it’s an outstanding Marlborough Sounds experience you'll remember forever.
Departing up to four times a day from Picton, our day trips combine a Marlborough Sounds cruise with the unique blend of art, nature and kiwi holiday experiences at the Wildlife Recovery and Arts Centre. We have accommodation in 14 units and chalets perfect for family holidays, outdoor adventurers, and romantic escapes.
At Lochmara there are conservation projects, nature walks, a Kakariki feeding encounter, native birds and wildlife, art galleries, sculpture trail and an artist studio. Kayaks, hammocks, a beach, rope swings, a flying fox, an outstanding café/restaurant with the best local food and wine, and the decadent Bath House day spa mean there is something for everyone. The 3 hour return walk to the panoramic Lochmara Lookout on the Queen Charlotte Track is a great option, with the 360 degree views of the Sounds definitely making the climb worthwhile. Explore, play, or relax, it is up to you.
Lochmara was recognised for excellence in the 2010 NZ Tourism Awards – come and find out for yourself what makes Lochmara special. Trips depart Picton at 9am, 12.15pm, and 5.30pm, returning to Picton at 11.15am, 3pm and 5.15pm. A dinner cruise is also available. Rates from $40pp or contact us for group specials.
