Photography Retreat - Capturing the Natural Environment - under the guidance of one of New Zealand's leading professional photographers, in a majestic Marlborough Sounds.

The Bay of Many Coves and Queen Charlotte Sound offer both novice and advanced photographers a range of stunning photographic opportunities including unique flora and fauna, landscape, marine and cultural subjects. Photograph marine life, rare native birds and stunning landscapes with expert New Zealand photographer, Simon Woolf, as your guide. And when each day is over, relax in luxury and enjoy some of the finest cuisine in the Marlborough Sounds.

As you cruise from Picton to the Resort, with photographic opportunities en-route through the Queen Charlotte Sound, your weekend of photographic workshops amidst the luxury of the Resort facilities and fine cuisine begins.   From sunrises to sunsets, macro to micro, native flora and fauna, the world of photography and camera equipment unfolds with not only an Expert in Simon but in the other photographers as you share your knowledge during the sessions. The first evening offers cocktails and hors d’oeuvres followed by an elegant three course dinner in the Foredeck Restaurant before a night time shoot – the stars are phenominal! After your hearty breakfast there is a guided expedition to Motuara Island today, an uninhabited, predator-free reserve in the outer Queen Charlotte Sound, where you will come face to face with rare and endangered native birds and wildlife, especially  the native wood pigeons (Kereru), fantails, perhaps a blue penguin, bellbirds, NZ falcons, various oystercatchers, reef herons, pied shags, spotted shags, little shags and the always inquisitive South Island robins. We will also visit historic Ship’s Cove where the curious and cheeky weka will greet you.. After anther eventful day behind the lens, join together for a delightful degustation dinner.

Sunday brings another delicious breakfast in the Kumatage lounge over much photography discussion, additional workshops such as ‘what makes a great image’ and more ….. after lunch you will board the Cougar Line watertaxi back into the town –ship of Picton, there will definitely be more to take photos of on this return journey through the picturesque Sounds.
