National Statistics Show Continued Growth for Marlborough

Visitor nights in Marlborough accommodation increased 19.1% in August 2011 compared to the same month last year according to Statistics New Zealand Commercial Accommodation Monitor. Within that international visitor nights were up a staggering 43.6% and domestic visitor night 7.7% up.

During August Marlborough hosted three multi-day conferences of over 200 delegates.  This is now the fourth consecutive month of growth in monthly visitor nights for Marlborough. Marlborough’s growth rate was much higher than the national average for 8.4% for August 2011 and is bucking the South Island trend of 13 consecutive months of falling guest nights.
