Marlborough Wins 2012 i-SITE Conference
i-SITE New Zealand announced yesterday that Marlborough has won the bid to host the 2012 i-SITE Conference. Destination Marlborough outbid three other South Island regions to win the conference to be held in September 2012.
The bid was prepared by Marlborough Convention Bureau Manager Olivia Bowers and i-SITE Operations Manager Amy Chandler on behalf of the region. Last week the team hosted the Chairman and Manager of i-SITE New Zealand for a tour of the facilities the week prior to the announcement.
When announcing the conference location for 2012, i-SITE New Zealand Manager Andrew Leslie congratulated the Destination Marlborough team on their bid. “They (Destination Marlborough) put together a very compelling proposal and I can safely say that you’ll all be welcomed with open arms next September, and enjoy some great experiences in the region.”
Hosting this conference in Marlborough gives us the perfect opportunity to introduce i-SITE staff from throughout New Zealand directly to our operators and the experiences, accommodation and services they offer to visitors. There is no better way to inspire travel sellers than having them experience it for themselves.
The i-SITE Conference is expected to bring over 120 delegates to the region. Beyond the two days of official conference programme there will be series of pre and post conference excursions around the region for delegates to learn more about Marlborough.
